Follow A Few Simple Rules When Purchasing Waterproof Binoculars

Waterproof binoculars should be able to stand up to the difficult marine environment and waterproof boating binoculars are of utmost importance as too are night vision equipment that can be used for search and rescue missions. The Pro Mariner waterproof 8×30 are ideal waterproof binoculars and Pro Mariner’s range of waterproof binoculars are innovative and effective to use on board, having rub-coated lenses that incorporate BAK4 prisms that are conducive to retaining extra light while at the same time, reducing eye glare.

Another type of waterproof binoculars are the Magellan 7×50 Marine which is all weather, rugged binocular ideal for use in the roughest waters and extreme weather conditions. It also includes an illuminated compass as well as an internal Rangefinder. Bushnell sets the standards for waterproof binoculars with its H20 10×40 WP/PF Porro Prism, which is reasonably priced and is completely O-ring sealed as well as being nitrogen-purged for waterproofing and fog proofing, in any kind of weather conditions.

The first time buyer of binoculars may be totally confused by the mind boggling array of options available, such as magnification, size, light factors, waterproofing, anti-reflective lens coating, viewing angle, rubber armoring and integral compass. But, there are a few simple rules that should be followed when purchasing waterproof binoculars and these include magnification, size of the objective lens, centre focus, fixed focus or individual focus, spectacle wearers, and quality and lens coating.

For magnification, a 7x magnification is the maximum requirement for waterproof binoculars that can be safely handled at sea because of the motion of the boat. The next thing to decide is the size of the objective lens which is the wide lens at the far end from where light gets transmitted to the binocular and for marine use; this should be 50mm in diameter. The smaller the wide lens, the smaller is the size of the binocular. In addition, most binoculars have a viewing angle of seven degrees and are quite acceptable for marine use.

The waterproof binoculars that are completely waterproof will cost about two hundred US dollars and to check whether the binocular is indeed waterproof, there should be printed on the binocular, words that state that it is waterproof or nitrogen filled. In addition, most of the waterproof binoculars available today have individual-eye focusing systems and a great many come with soft rubber eyecups. In addition, one should look for clarity, brightness and comfort of use when selecting binoculars.

Binoculars are generally used for bringing an object closer in order to observe its actions and behavior. Ornithologists or those who watch bird behavior can see a bird blink from 500 yards or other such actions they try to catch on camera for their project.

How And Where To Find The Binoculars For Your Specific Needs

Ultra zoom binoculars can be prohibited for sale to civilians in some states due to the fact that they can be used for invasion of privacy instead of a professional activity. Therefore, if you are a professional you may be able to get access to a great ultra zoom binoculars if not you may have to settle for the next best on the market.

Online however you may be able to some great bargains and some older military versions, which may not be even available anywhere on the market today but still be legal to use by civilians. Ultra zoom binoculars can be found on line as well at great prices especially if you wish to settle for a second hand piece which is in great condition but does not have all the guarantees and required papers that come with it.

What To Look For When Purchasing Ultra Zoom Binoculars

First and foremost you need to have your specific needs in mind for example, if you are looking for a pair of binoculars to watch birds than you must specify that to the seller so he/she can point you in the right direction.

There are a very large variety of binoculars and they all are slightly different from the other; some are pocket sized and some weigh up to 10 tons, those are the ones used by navy base for obvious purposes. Therefore, being very specific in your needs will speed up the process and work out better for you in the end.

Many binoculars will be called ultra zoom binoculars but, they all don’t have the same power; here again it depends on the required use and the size of the binoculars, which will provide you with their power for example the ultra zoom binoculars made to civilians will have inferior power than those provided to the military and so on.

Why Acquire Ultra Zoom Binoculars

Even if you are not a professional security guard a ultra zoom binoculars can come in handy most times for example if you like horse racing, or bird watching or even when watching a favorite sport such as tennis where you will be sat fat away from the players.

Binoculars are used at opera as well but they are totally different, very small and discreet with which you can see from the balcony or any other far away seat.

Some of the most powerful binoculars you will probably ever use are found at observation points at tourist spots. However, these are usually mounted to a pole or wall usually due to their weight. As the size of the object lens increases, so does the weight making some of the more powerful binoculars unwieldy for handheld use.

There are some long range observation binoculars made to mount on a rail on your back deck or on a boat rail as well as guard towers, and if you have a home with a view the ocean of a large mountain range you may want to look into getting some powerful binoculars to better enjoy the view.

Others have lenses with sufficient light gathering capabilities that they can be used to enjoy your home’s view during the day and then to do some star-gazing after dark. The Celestron 25X100 a pair of powerful binoculars, enlarges images by 25 times and has exceptional light gathering rated at 100 for nighttime viewing. Its weight of nearly 10 pounds makes it hard to hold steady by hand but it does have a tripod mount attachment.

Bigger Not Always Better

At 1000 yards, this pair has a linear field of view of just 157 feet, which is great for viewing spotted images, but hot for a panoramic view. If your plan includes viewing images both far away and closer, you may to look into a pair of not quite so powerful binoculars.

To put powerful binoculars in perspective compare the average use type of 7X30, which means they have an enlargement factor of seven and light gathering capability rating of 30. Excellent for everyday use in normal lighting conditions is usually has an objective diameter of between 6,8mm and 7.2mm.

Now, look at the Nikon 20X120 which has an objective diameter of 120mm which means it can see under extremely low lighting conditions. It also offers a 267 linear foot field of view at 1000 yards which makes it ideal for landscape viewing or looking at the night sky. These powerful binoculars would have to be mounted due to their weight, but its mount swivels 360 degrees and has a linear transition of between 30 degrees and 70 degrees.

However, with so many different makes and models incorporating many different capabilities there is sure to be a pair of powerful binoculars to suit your everyday needs without spending more than you want to look at.

A very popular product, night binoculars, are mostly used by security personal but also by day to day civilians. The main use of night binoculars is to enable night vision in order to conduct various night bases activities and projects.

Different Types Of Night Binoculars

There are many types of night binoculars available depending on the use you have of them for example, security guards need professional binoculars with different other facilities in built as well, which make their jobs easier.

Hunters use night binoculars as well to follow their prey in the dark when it is the best time to spot and hunt in some cases. Also night hunters need the night vision to stay out of some animal’s path, which they do not want to awake or bother by any means.

Animal behavior observation projects need their teams to carry night binoculars as well in order to follow animal behavior at night and capture it on camera to be later studied and discussed by specialists in the domain.

Each type of night binoculars comes with different options for the specific usage required therefore, before you purchase your them make sure you take each detail in consideration as well.

Where To Find Great Bargains On Binoculars

Binoculars for night vision are expensive depending on the type you choose however, if you know where to look for them you may find a bargain once and when, here are a few suggestions: the Internet would be my first choice as there are many site which specialize in binoculars alone of all types and sizes and a bargain can easily be encountered.

Other ways to find bargains are in specialized stores where from time to time they will run a special on older models or even a promotional on newly arrived ones. Night binoculars are always in demand so it is hard to get a bargain most times therefore you must be on the look out at all times if it an item you have great usage of.

Helpful Tip

Using any type of binoculars to invade anyone’s privacy is a violation of law almost in all US states so, if you were planning to play a prank on your friends or spy on your girlfriend, its time you rethink that idea before it will get you more trouble than benefit.

However, using them for the obvious usage that binoculars provide, night binoculars can only bring better quality work to any project you have in mind.

Many things go bump in the night and it is often difficult to see what those things are. This inability of our vision to see in the darkness is based on the biological fact that the human eye can only see a portion of the entire light spectrum.

A quick lesson on light reveals that light is comprised of waves of energy. The length of the light wave is in direct proportion to the energy of that wave. The longer the wave the less energy it has. Therefore the shorter the wave, the more energy that wave contains.

Additionally, colors can be defined as light waves. The color representing the most energy, shortest wave length, is violet. The energy level of colors decreases in the following order: indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red being the least energy wave, longest, of the color spectrum.

Added to the mix are even lower light waves of energy that are not visible to the human eye. Infrared is one such wave of energy and is even further divided in three levels. Those levels are near infrared, mid-infrared and thermal infrared.

Infrared binoculars take these facts surrounding the energy of the infrared light wave and combine the magnification of binoculars with infrared capability to help aid in night-time viewing. How this infrared technology works and what to look for in infrared binoculars would be helpful to discuss.

How Infrared Binoculars Work

Most infrared binoculars incorporate a special illuminator that emits a powerful bean of infrared light. This light is not visible to the human eye and yet provides a light source that allows for objects to be seen at night. The captured reflected image, caused by the infrared light, is focused back through the lens into a specially constructed electronic tube. The resulting process transforms a weak reflected image into a stronger one.

Eventually, through a conversion process that involves photons and electrons, a greenish image is seen through the infrared binoculars. This greenish image is a reflection of the image that is being seen.

Features

Different makes and models of infrared binoculars are equipped with different features. Depending upon the intended use of these binoculars equates to what features you would wish your infrared binoculars to include.

Probably the most important feature of binoculars is the magnification. The magnification you choose is contingent upon their use. A magnification of 5.0 will help the observer to see beyond 200 yards away from the view point. Magnification less than 5.0 will decrease the range of yardage that can be seen from your vantage point.

Other factors to consider when considering a pair of infrared binoculars includes the weight, its durability, ease of accessing the controls, battery life and a diopter. Handling a lighter weight set of binoculars and ease of use will allow for better experiences in utilizing the infrared binoculars.

Due to light refraction through water, seeing undistorted images is a problem but a good pair of fishing binoculars can make the images more colorful, more realistic and without the distortion. Ultraviolet coating on the lenses of fishing binoculars also reduces the glare from the sun as it hits the water.

If you are on the water looking for signs of where the big fish are located, such as jumping Marlin or Blue Fish, a good pair of fishing binoculars can be a big help. The distortion-free vision offered on many models gives a better idea of the distance and most fishing binoculars come with extreme depth of field capabilities allowing for sharp images anywhere from 20 yards to infinity.

Fishing binoculars, since used on or near the water, are generally waterproof and the depth of their resistance to water infiltration will often determine the price. It is also important to remember to protect your fishing binoculars from the continued exposure to salt water if they are used on ocean cruises.

Seek Out Features You Need

If you are planning to spend a lot of time on a boat then fishing binoculars with coated lenses is necessary. These will reduce the amount of glare from the sun and make your images more defined. Additionally, with the glare almost completely gone, images will not be hidden by the reflected light.

Whether you are using the fishing binoculars to actually look for fish movement on the water or for trying to spot the shoreline if you get lost, be sure the magnification is strong enough to meet your needs. Depending on the size of the water way you be on will determine the strength of the fishing binoculars you will need.

Center focus fishing binoculars will enable one-handed operation easier and along with the prism being mounted on the roof of the binoculars making them more compact, they will be easier to carry, store and use. A rough waterproof coating is also desirable to make for more sure handling if they, or your hands, do get wet so they will not slip overboard.

The angle of view is determined by the lens size and depending on your needs, you may want a wider view lens. Similar to the lens on a camera, fishing binoculars also come with a variety of lenses. They are available from numerous manufacturers in many styles and magnifications. Resultantly, costs can range from about $40 to several thousands of dollars.

There are many different types of binoculars available today, and that includes that of day and night vision binoculars. Although day and night vision binoculars do have a lot of similarities, they have a lot of differences as well, and all of these need to be taken properly and fully into consideration in order for the decision on which you should purchase, between day and night binoculars, to be correct.

The Advantages of Day Vision Binoculars

Day vision binoculars (which are basically just classified as regular binoculars) are a rather complex and yet seemingly simple design at the same time; they consist of two identical telescopes which are mounted side by side and which are aligned to point accurately in the same direction, one to be viewed through each of the user’s eyes in order to present the viewer with a greater sense of depth and distance than with that of a single-lens telescope’s allowance.

The Advantages of Night Vision Binoculars

The most obvious and important advantage of night vision binoculars is that both human eyes are adjusted equally to the night vision binoculars viewfinder instead of just one, as this is the case with monoculars or binoculars; therefore making night vision binoculars more comfortable in order to look through for sustained periods of time.

Where can I Find Day and Night Vision Binoculars?

You can find both day and night vision binoculars at basically any store that sells binoculars, and you can usually find both day and night vision binoculars for a relatively inexpensive price. The most important thing to remember here, regardless of where you are actually planning on buying them, is to be knowledgeable and understanding on the matter of binoculars as a whole, so that you can make the best possible decision for you.

If you understand about binoculars in general, you will be able to more easily find both the best quality and the best worth for your money.

Sailgb is one of the more popular options, and they are an online store that offers a wide and varied selection of binoculars from all sorts of different manufacturers. Some of their more popular options are: Cobra NightVision NEBULA PRO binoculars, Cobra NightVision PULSAR binocular, YUKON VIKING LT 2×24 Night Vision binocular, Cobra NightVision CORONA binoculars, Cobra NightVision METEOR PRO binoculars, Night Detective binocular brand 3: BBR 3, and the Night Detective binocular brand 4: BBR 4.

Binoculars are a fairly large purchase. There are many brands with many models and many different features available. It’s easy to just go out and buy the most expensive pair that you can find, hoping that the purchase price reflects the quality of the binoculars. However, you wouldn’t do that with a car or other large purchase. The upshot is that you have to educate yourself about binoculars rating before choosing the model you will buy. Sorry, there are just no short cuts.

Focus On The Features

If you’re shopping for binoculars, you have an idea of why you want them: viewing live sports or live concerts, bird watching, camping, sight seeing, hunting or just for having a cool toy. The reason you want them determines the features you need. Viewing a live sports event may not require refocusing. Some binoculars have a fixed focus feature. That just means that there is no focus mechanism. Beware, bird watchers. You are the binoculars shoppers that need the focus mechanism. You will be using the binoculars to view objects that move quickly and for long distances.

Light is important for seeing. That should go without saying. Different binoculars allow more or less light into the lenses. This is determined by the optics. If you are planning to use your binoculars in low light situations such as star gazing, look for bright optics. The distance viewing also needs a big aperture. Look at the numbers on the back of the binoculars. You’ll see something like 18 x 50. The second number is an aperture of 50mm. That’s about the minimum you’ll need for a good astronomical pair of binoculars.

Hunters might like a pair of rangefinder binoculars. This binocular rating means that there is a laser that measures the distance between the binoculars and the object being viewed. Hikers might like them as well. Hikers may also prefer a light weight pair of binoculars. If you’re going to be wearing them around your neck while you’re walking a long distance, the weight can mean a great deal to you. If you want to look through the binoculars for long periods, a stabilizer will minimize any wobbling.

Individual needs also enter into your preferred binoculars rating. If you wear eyeglasses, you may need binoculars with an eye cup that will accommodate them. If your eyes are wider apart or closer together than average, a pair of binoculars that allow you to adjust the distance between the scopes will be more comfortable for you. To sum it up, read the binoculars rating articles, but remember that it’s your personal binoculars rating that matters most.

If your passion is the outdoors and you want to take everything in that nature has to offer you may be in the market for big binoculars. Big binoculars will add a whole new dimension to your bird watching experience. Through these binoculars you will be able to view the bird’s markings or watch their activity in building their nest. Or if you are an avid hunter, big binoculars will help you to track and locate that game that you have been dreaming about all summer.

Another possibility may be that you just simply want to wish upon a star. The powerful optics associated with big binoculars will help to bring that star closer to earth for you and aid you in your star gazing.

In shopping for your pair of big binoculars it is important to keep in mind how binoculars operate and specifically what are big binoculars.

Binocular Basics

There are many factors to consider when in the market for a set of binoculars. One of those factors includes the intended use for the binoculars. Some uses could include stargazing, bird watching, surveillance, hunting trips, etc.

Another factor to consider, when considering the purchase of a pair of binoculars, is the power of the binoculars. The specifications and strength of the binoculars are represented by two figures. These two figures are generally listed side-by-side and separated by the letter x. For example, if pair of binoculars is described by the numbers 7 x 50, the first number represents the magnification and the second number represents the diameter of the objective lenses.

The magnification of 7, in this example, means that the viewed object will appear to be seven times closer than if viewed without the binoculars. The number 50, diameter of the objective lenses, equates to the ability of the binoculars to gather light. The higher the second number, the greater is the light gathering capability of the lens and therefore the brighter the object being viewed. A higher second number is particularly helpful if the binoculars will be used for stargazing.

What Are Big Binoculars

Binoculars begin to be defined as big binoculars when the second number, of the listed specifications, reaches the number 50 and above. Therefore a 7 x 50 pair of binoculars could be defined as a pair of big binoculars.
Although incredibly powerful and useful for such things as stargazing there is one significant drawback to a pair of big binoculars. That drawback is their weight. The weight of binoculars that are 50 mm and above makes it difficult to maintain steadiness when holding the binoculars up to the eyes. Therefore, it is often necessary to purchase a binocular mount to hold the binoculars and provide for a good viewing experience.
